About the Author
John C. Tibbetts is Associate Professor, Film and Media Studies at the University of Kansas. He is the coauthor of The Encyclopedia of Novels into Film (2005) and author of Composers in the Movies (2005).
James M. Welsh is the cofounder of the journal Literature/Film Quarterly, coeditor of The Literature/Film Reader (2007) and coauthor of The Francis Ford Coppola Encyclopedia (2010), both published by Scarecrow Press.

Great bedside book as well as a scholarly source

Comprised of articles from the old magazine AMERICAN CLASSIC SCREEN, which flourished for a decade from the mid-1970s to the mid-1980s, this book is a treat for anyone interested in the great days of Hollywood cinema from the silent period to the early 1970s. Written in clear, accessible style by writers with an obvious passion, it shows just how well fans can write, if they have been inspired by their subjects.
