Fascinating look into the life of a jazz man in recent years.

The book is practically a gig-by-gig record of Kenny's later career. It is of interest to anyone who wonders what it is like to be a jazz musician in the rock and roll and post-rock era. It also makes it clear why there are so few such individuals.

Dixiecats

It is wonderful that this book mentions the Dixiecats. My father, John Nardozza, was the drummer for that recording and very few people know about this record. My father sent the one copy known to be in existence to Kenny's wife shortly after Kenny's death. My father, were he still living, would have been honored by his mention in this book. Unfortunately, his last name, Nardozza, is spelled incorrectly as Nardossa in the book :-(
The author also states that there were two takes of At The Jazz Band Ball. That is incorrect. The original 78 record has a single take of At The Jazz Band Ball on one side and one take of Basin Street Blues on the other. My friend Stan Rogacki made a professional tape recording from this record in an attempt to preserve it. There was a bad take on the tape recording due to improper turntable tracking. It is believed that the author mistook this for an additional take of the At The Jazz Band Ball recording.
